Difficulty: Meathead Master – A rich and savory dish for advanced cooks
Here’s a next-level spin on a classic burger: we’re slow-cooking a chicken patty and smoky beef bacon to bring out maximum flavor and tenderness. It might sound unconventional, but trust us—this Slow-Cooked Chicken & Beef Bacon Burger is rich, savory, and absolutely worth the extra time in the oven!
Suggested Products:
- Adams ABF Ground Chicken (for juicy burger patties)
- Meathead Smoked Beef Bacon (for smoky, savory goodness)
Ingredients (Makes 4 Burgers):
- 1 lb (450 g) Adams ABF Ground Chicken
- 4 slices Meathead Smoked Beef Bacon (add more if you like extra bacon)
- 4 Sesame Seed Buns
- 4 Lettuce Pieces (large leaves, not shredded)
- 1 Tomato, sliced
- 1 Onion, sliced (use red or white onion, your choice)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder (optional)
- 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
- 2 cups Tomato Sauce or Marinara (for braising)
- 1 cup Chicken Stock (optional, for extra moisture)
- Condiments of your choice (ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc.)
Preparation:
-
Form the Patties: In a mixing bowl, gently combine the Adams ABF Ground Chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using). Divide into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 1 inch thick.
-
Sear on the Stovetop: Preheat a large, oven-safe skillet (or Dutch oven) over medium-high heat. Add the cooking oil. Sear each patty for about 2-3 minutes per side, just until lightly browned. Set patties aside on a plate.
-
Cook the Beef Bacon: In the same skillet, cook the Meathead Smoked Beef Bacon until it just starts to crisp. Remove and set aside. (Drain excess fat if needed, but keep some in the skillet for flavor.)
-
Sauté Onions: Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.
-
Layer & Braise in the Oven: Return the patties to the skillet on top of the onions. Tuck the partially cooked Meathead Smoked Beef Bacon slices around or on top of each patty. Pour in the tomato sauce (and stock if using) until it comes halfway up the patties. Cover the skillet with a lid or foil, then transfer it to a preheated oven at 325°F (160°C). Braise for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the patties are thoroughly cooked and ultra-tender, and the sauce is full of rich flavor.
-
Assemble Your Burgers: Once done, carefully remove from the oven. Toast your Sesame Seed Buns briefly in the oven or on the stovetop. Place a lettuce piece on the bottom bun, then add a braised patty (with bacon on top), followed by sliced tomato and onion. Spread on your favorite condiments, then cap with the top bun.
Pro Tip: If you prefer a thicker sauce for the final burger, remove the lid or foil for the last 20-30 minutes of cooking to allow the sauce to reduce. This will intensify the flavors even more!
This Slow-Cooked Chicken & Beef Bacon Burger delivers an incredibly tender patty packed with smoky, savory notes. Yes, it takes a bit longer than your usual burger, but the result is pure indulgence—a true Meathead Master experience!
